Colleagues from adult and children's social care at Portsmouth City Council came together to celebrate newly qualified social workers at a graduation event.
These social workers recently completed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
Newly qualified social workers who completed the 14-month programme received a certificate for their achievements. Afterwards, delegates had the chance to network with colleagues and enjoy afternoon tea.
Sarah Daly, Director for Children, Families and Education at Portsmouth City Council said: "It was an absolute pleasure to be part of this special event and to celebrate with an amazing and inspirational group of social workers as they end their first year at Portsmouth City Council."
During the event, a presentation with feedback from this year's cohort was shown which highlighted the positive impact they have already made in their roles.
Andy Biddle, director, adult social care at Portsmouth City Council, said: "It is clear this year's ASYEs have had a profound impact on Portsmouth already, fostering hope and providing support for those who need it most. The skills and knowledge they have gained during their ASYE will serve them well as they continue to make a difference."
Within Children's Social Care, the Stronger Futures Academy supports newly qualified social workers with 'on the job' training after their social work degree and master's.
Kate Atkinson, a social worker in children's services who completed the ASYE programme at Portsmouth City Council and attended the celebration event, said, "I felt my workload was protected and I was also given opportunities to hold more complexity. My team leader and Anna were invaluable."
Councillor Nick Dorrington, Cabinet Member for Children, Families, and Education at Portsmouth City Council, said, "This event celebrates those at the start of their social work careers. Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring. I would like to congratulate everyone for reaching this significant milestone."
